Our Honest & Transparent Pricing Approach

We do not just “pluck a figure out of thin air” when pricing your small electrical job or larger electrical project.

We operate with set pricing for many small electrical jobs and make certain assumptions when pricing, as laid out in our business terms and conditions when quoting.

That said, there are many electrical jobs that we simply cannot give a price for without visiting first to discuss further and investigate aspects of the work at your premises before we can prepare the quotation for you.

Our Minimum Charge

Our basic minimum charge for any works is £65.00 + the cost of materials.

So, when you ask us to come and fix a light switch, swap a socket, or replace a pull cord, this is the fee that we will most likely charge. If any materials are necessary, that cost will be added on top.

This minimum fee ensures we can cover the cost of our time, travel, expertise, and testing – giving you peace of mind that the job will be completed safely and to industry standards.

Example Prices for Common Jobs

We know homeowners like to have an idea of costs before making a decision. Here are some typical examples:

Replacing a customer-supplied light fitting - £65.00

If several fittings are swapped in the same property at the same time we may quote you for the works. Generally, the cost is around £35.00 per lighting fitting when done together on the same visit.

Replacing a faulty Shower Pull Cord switch - £95.00

These sort of electrical accessories are more difficult to work on as larger diameter cable is used for shower circuits and proper termination of the cable at the isolation switch is imperative to ensure a safe electrical connection.  

Outdoor socket installation - from £110.00 

(Includes required safety testing and certification if necessary). If the socket is situated far from a nearby supply, the installation will be more costly due to extra cabling and labour.

New consumer unit installation – generally in the price range of £850.00 - £1,100.00

This depends on factors such as the number of circuits, property size (for testing), and access to the installation point. The price excludes a prior electrical inspection or any remedial work required before certification.

These examples give you a ballpark figure, but we always confirm pricing before starting work so there are no surprises.

When We Need to Visit First

Some jobs simply cannot be accurately priced without seeing them first. For example:

• Wiring alterations where the existing layout is unknown.
• Larger-scale works such as a kitchen rewire or multiple electrical changes to an area of your home.
• A combination of work where there are a number of jobs in different areas of your home (it is simply more practical to visit and walk through all of the jobs in person).
• Outdoor power supply to a garage, shed or summerhouse.

In these cases, we’ll arrange a convenient time to visit, assess the job, discuss further and provide a detailed written quotation.

Quoting Without a Visit

On smaller jobs, we often do not attend your property to quote in person. Visiting every small job to quote can be impractical and time-consuming, which is why we make use of technology.

We find that asking clients to send in photographs of their installation and accessories can often mean we are able to provide a fixed quote over email - without the need for attending.

This speeds up the process for everyone and allows us to book your job sooner.
